When will we ever learn?

City streets seem like Shakespeare run amok
as cops endlessly replay the violence of his tragedies
without the art,
time after time
after time.

My Black friends shed tears like blood
at our eternally Zoomed meetings,
quote Fannie Lou
about being sick and tired
of being sick and tired,
call in Black when their pain
precludes any work today.

When, oh when, will our movement find a pathway
to dismantle the cops?
to rend the racism
from out of hearts?
to end such a suffocating system
that uses cops as fangs
so it can thrive?
